People: M&M Trybulec, Aro
Place: Jura

Trips: Details:

Jaskinia Przeginska

Aro was a bit injured, so that for the long weekend we decided on going to the Jura. As a warm-up, we went to the Kajasowka Reserve and the Przeginska Cave there - a double traverse without belays with an exposed access. :)

Anyway, a very pleasant place worth a visit - nice views, interesting rocks, only that cave...

Jaskinia Kryspinowska

On the same day we went to the Kryspinowska Cave in the nearby Kryspinow. The entrance to the cave is in the floor of an old quarry behind the houses at the eastern end of the town.

The cave was a bit disappointing - plans suggested that we will see some underground lakes, but what we actually saw was some small puddles. Well, maybe a couple of deeper ones, but with sizes much to be desired...

Apart from that, not much of anything else. Pretty complicated in navigation, some tight parts, some of the passages have an interesting shape. No formations.

See also the cave's description on Epimenides (in Polish).

[MJT] Ok, the forms on the walls were sometimes interesting...

Jaskinia Szeptunow / Szmaragdowa (Emerald)

On the next day we went to the distant Czestochowa to have a look at the cave in the Rudniki quarry - a cave that has the deepest underground lake in the Jura.

The cave is situated very nicely - in a closed, pretty large and interesting quarry. From the entrance gate (that's near the train station) you can go to the highest point in the quarry, from which you can see the cave's entrance in the wall of the lowest level of the mine (look south-west and down).

The initial parts are not very interesting, then you enter the cave's main chamber. From there, you can descend the pitch onto a ledge near the lake, but it's much more interesting to get there through the Meander (although we almost overlooked the entrance to the lake). It's a maze consisting of nicely shaped passages that in one direction lead to a pool, and in the other direction - wonders between rocks.

When we got down to the lowest tier of the cave, we saw the lake (and not just some puddle). Beautiful color of the water, but unfortunately we had no boat to see the farthest parts. We will have to come back there...

Jaskinia Ostreznicka

After Emerald Cave, and after sunset, on our way home, we had a quick visit to Ostreznicka Cave. Not to explore it, but to try out a couple of ideas I had of taking a picture of the fantastic entrance to the cave.

See also the cave's description on Epimenides (in Polish).

Pietrowa Szczelina (Storied Rift)

On the third and last day of the weekend we decided to return to Storied Rift that we visited not that long ago. The last time we somehow weren't in the mood to explorer this hole, so this time we wanted to get to the Chamber of the Old Cave and find the side passages: Crystal Passage and/or Fairy Passage.

Indeed, these passages are mega interesting and it's worth the crawl between boulders to find them. At least we hope that these were the passages that we wanted to find... :)

On top of that, a very nice fossil in the Chamber (although not as pretty as the one in Raclawicka) and some fun in Hell. A very nice trip, where we also tried getting to the Chamber without ropes. It turns out, that it's not that hard, if you like and practice chimneying...

See also the cave's description on Epimenides (in Polish).
