People: M&M Trybulec
Place: Jura, near Piaseczno

Trips:
  • Jaskinia Wielkanocna (Easter Cave)
  • Jaskinia Piaskowa (vel Bluszczowa) (Sand (or Ivy) Cave)
Details:

Jaskinia Wielkanocna (Easter Cave)

A very fun cave - not very large, but with an interesting entrance pitch.

You can find many calcite formations and fossils at the bottom. I really liked small calcite corals, but other formations, and shells, were interesting also.

When going to the second chamber, pay close attention - it's quite easy to have loose rocks falling on the head of your companions. You can even block your way out with falling stones - quite possible if you slip, for instance, in the scree in the upper chamber.

You can get out of the cave by chimneying, but I had a rope for security; I don't think I would've managed without it... ;-)

Jaskinia Piaskowa (vel Bluszczowa) (Sand (or Ivy) Cave)

Actually, the whole cave consists of a single, long, sometimes convoluted and branching passage. Sand makes up the bottom, you have to crawl a bit, sometimes you can crawl on your hands and knees, but there are only several places where you can (almost) stand up. Some squeezing between rocks, but that doesn't lead to any new parts.

We also looked at the second entrance, but it is blocked pretty early on. Because it's on the North side of the hill, it's much colder there - the bottom was still covered with a thick sheet of icy snow.
