  • Jaskinia Sniezna (Snow Cave)
Details:

Jaskinia Marmurowa (Marble Cave)

On the first day we decided to visit Marble Cave. The hike took us less than 3 hours. Inside, it turned out that there's a lot of water everywhere (for instance, the climb in Candidate's Pitch, was under a small waterfall all way through). So, we went down to the New Bottom, but we just couldn't force ourselves to visit the Black Tower - we were wet and didn't feel like caving at that time. Moreover, we didn't take much to eat, so everyone was thinking about warm food in the town, and not about caving (although I must admit that beer was stronger on my mind)...

On the second day, instead of caving, we decided to hike in the Chocholowska Valley.

Jaskinia Sniezna (Snow Cave)

On the third day, together with Alicja Podobinska, we attacked the Great Snow Cave... at 4am!

Unfortunately there are no pictures from this trip, since we wanted to make it quickly down and up. The cave was rigged by one of the course groups on the previous day, and today the other group was supposed to take the ropes down. So, we just had to make it before them. Moreover, Alice and Betka were leaving that day, so there was just no time for taking pictures...

Before 7am we went inside, and after less than an hour we were at the bottom (that is, around the 1st Bivouac). Here Alice decided to leave us and head for the exit. The three of us went down following the Waterworks. We reached the 1st Waterfall and went down beyond it. Betka, being in a suite that's not impermeable, got all wet in the Waterfall, so after that we decided to go up.

The way to the exit went quite well, we were all out well before 12pm. The course group was just getting ready to head inside, so they didn't have to wait for us very long.

All in all, my first trip to the Great Snow Cave was very nice and we reached about -325. I definitely have to go back there quite soon...
