Shrimp in Butter |
|
Great food, quick in preparation and pretty cheap
that we discovered on the trip to the Canaries.
Our friends, Czarek and Aneta Weigel, sold us the recipe -
many thanks for that! :-)
And think how much this would cost in a restaurant... a small fortune!
- fresh shrimp, about 0.25 kg / person, although connoisseurs can easily eat a lot more :-)
(but you have to find out which store, and when, has shipments of fresh seafood)
- butter, about 50 dg / person
- garlic, about one big clove / person
- one lemon
- Strip the heads and legs off the shrimp, but leave the shells
(the head can be detached easily, tear the legs out holding the shrimp by its back).
Some people like to take the shells off, too.
- Rinse, put into salted boiling water for a moment (to get all the germs out).
- Peel the garlic, squeeze or chop into very small chunks.
- Melt the butter on a frying pan, put the garlic in.
- Add shrimp, stir for a couple of minutes.
- Add lemon juice, stir some more.
- Put shrimp with the sauce into a bowl, serve with French bread.
- Before eating, peel the shell off the shrimp (but suck out the sauce before that).
