Cheese Roll |
|
A nice looking starter, delicious at the same time.
All kinds of variations are allowed. For instance, instead of ham
you can add mushrooms or pepper, green parsley, herbs - anything.
- 30 dg "salami" cheese in one chunk (not smoked, normal)
- 0.5 butter (100g)
- 2-3 boiled eggs
- some ham
- 2 processed cheeses (I usually pick Emmentaler, without any flavoring)
- garlic
- Put the chunk of cheese into boiling water, all of it has to be under water (take the pot off the heat).
Keep in the water for about 20 minutes - so that it melts inside.
- Mince ham and eggs (if adding mushrooms instead, cut them into slices and fry a bit on butter).
- Grate butter and the processed cheeses, mix, add pressed garlic, ham, eggs, and other ingredients of the filling.
- Take the cheese out of the water, let it cool down a bit, then roll it out.
Put the filling on the cheese, roll up the cheese with the filling into a tight roll.
I prefer when there are more layers, so I roll out the cheese to be quite thin.
- Put into a refrigerator, in foil so that it doesn't dry up.
- Serve with sandwiches (pumpernickel is great for this) or by itself.
