Some pictures from our trips around Jura:
Places:
Details:
A pretty nice castle, about half way between Krzeszowice and Alwernia.
Me thinks it's in the top three of Jura's castles (IMO, of course).
But it would gain a lot if some cash was put into making the tower accessible,
or the upper terraces, or a couple of the larger halls maybe...
Currently, the tower is off limits, and the rest looks like it's barely standing upright by itself.
A nice trip nevertheless, just about for a weekend afternoon.

Not far from Ogrodzieniec, a red path from Podzamcze will take you to the Birow Mountain.
A Royal Castle was there a long time ago, but now no traces are left (almost).
However, it's worth a short hike to get on top of the rock, for the view.
On the other hand, at the bottom, there are some caves to visit.
These aren't difficult, although if you would like to look into every corner, you may get a bit muddy.
Most of the caves are on the North-Eastern side (The Cave Complex of the Birow Mountain).
But there are also a couple of caves in the Southern rocks, on the South-Western side.
It's also a pretty good place for SRT training -
we were here on a self rescue course.

This castle is really worth visiting - of all castles on the Jura
this is the most interesting one (excluding Wawel, but we're talking about ruins here).
Also it's the best situated castle (IMO) - among high rocks of varying and interesting shapes.
And there's a torture chamber, for those who like such things...
