Details:

Jaskinia Zytnia (Rye Cave)

Not a very interesting cave, bright almost everywhere (except for a small chimney, where you may need some light). Worst of all, though, are the tons of garbage that can be found in the nearby holes. You need to pay close attention when walking on that garbage - it's easy to cut your boots on broken bottles...

Jaskinia Dzika (Wild Cave)

The entrance is quite nice, especially the great boulder that hangs over the level ground just in front of the entrance.

The whole cave is made up of a single passage - a bit of formations, some side passages... The chimney about half-way inside the cave is very interesting - you can climb it up over 5 meters. There you can find the prettiest chamber of the cave, not so large but full of various formations.

Jaskinia Mamutowa (Mammoth Cave)

Next, we went to the nearby Mammoth cave. Even though it's pretty bare of formations, it has lots of side (and quite short) passages. The cave is worth a visit for the interesting entrance with a rock bridge.

The most interesting passage is the one leading from the eastern corner of the main chamber; it's worth going to the very end, after the right-turn. There, you can find some "live" formations still.

Jaskinia Borsucza (Badger Cave)

Even though this cave is quite small, somehow I really got to like it. It looks like a stream flows out of the main entrance, however, the spring is just in front of the hole. So it looks like we're going into a water cave, but it turns dry just inside.

First, the passage meanders a bit, and you need to crawl. In this part of the cave you can smell some kind of an animal, although I didn't meet any. Next, you come to a T-junction - to the left, after several meters, a small lake blocks the passage. To the right, a bit longer passage leads to the second entrance of the cave. (All in all, a pretty nice hideout for an animal - in case of danger, run to the second entrance.) The second entrance is in the rock about 2 meters above ground level.

Jaskinia Ostreznicka (Ostreznicka Cave)

Finally we managed to visit this cave in daylight and with enough time to visit all of its 5 entrances. Many through trips possible. :)

We were expecting a thoroughly dried-out cave with, at most, a nice layout of passages. It turned out, however, to be quite an interesting and fun cave. We even found some formations (moonmilk, draperies, rosebuds) in the middle part of the cave (where it was pretty humid, btw).

Martha went through the squeeze in the middle without any problems. However, those rocks didn't want to let me through. I got stuck and Andrzej had to pull me out by the legs... :-)

Jaskinia na Dupce (vel Siedlecka) (Cave on Dupka or Siedlecka Cave)

The last cave of this arch-fun weekend - we went to visit Jaskinia Na Dupce (Cave on the Butt?).

The cave consists of two parts: the upper passage between two entrances, split in the middle by a rift several meters deep. You can traverse the passage without light on an almost horizontal "sidewalk".

From the right, a steep passage leads down into the second part of the cave. Here, I began a semi-uncontrolled slide down over old icy snow. Fortunately, there are not pitches there, so at most you can get a bruise on one of the outcropping stones.

The slope is blocked at the bottom with solid rock that has some nice formations. The whole slope is covered with loose rocks and leaves in its upper part. At the bottom of the slope, to the right, a small chamber opens up. There, you can find lots of calcite corals - definitely worth visiting.

Siedlecka Desert is not far from the cave, and is worth a visit, too. It is much more "deserty" that the Bledowska Deseret, although much smaller...

Czy to malowidło prehistorycznych w Dzikiej jest faktycznie autentyczne. Skąd to wiadomo? Ostatnio tam byłem i mam wątpliwości. Obok jest bohomaz, który raczej jest dziełem wandali. Zresztą przy wejściu jest więcej takich malunków.
